Job Description

TMS International is a leading provider of outsourced steel services, including raw materials purchasing, scrap management, scrap optimization, slag processing and metal recovery services to integrated steel mills, mini-mills and foundries. We have operations at over 70 plants throughout the U.S., Canada, Central & South America, Europe and Asia.

At TMS, safety is our top priority. We have the leading OSHA rates in the steel mill service industry. More than half of the operating sites have not had an OSHA recordable injury in the past 12 months. We will simply not be satisfied until every operation achieves our ultimate and only safety goal of zero injuries. We are steadily working toward achieving our goal of zero injuries through our behavior based safety program, holding employees accountable for their performance, comprehensive procedures and extensive operator training.


Job Requirements

Work Management:

  • Under the direction of the Site Manager, monitors compliance with applicable safety and environment regulations.
  • Must be fluent in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • Must be a “Team Player' and have strong work ethics.
  • Minimum of an Associates Degree or 3 years work experience managing an industrial safety program.
  • Applicants with Bachelors or Masters Degree in an ABET accredited Safety program are preferred.
  • Recent or expected graduates are encouraged to apply.

Personnel and Staff Development:

  • Administers the attendance and safety incentives for each month.
  • Supports company policies, dress codes, work rules, safety rules, and ethics.
  • Safety and Environmental Coordination:
  • Supports the day to day operation of the Company wide EH&S program.
  • Monitors and documents compliance with applicable OSHA, Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
  • Prepares required reports to corporate headquarters, host steel mills and government agencies if required.
  • Maintains library of safety and environment documentation and revises when necessary.
  • Documents and monitors prevention training and reporting on accidents and injuries.
  • Preferred candidate will have experience in ISO 9001, 14001, or 18001.
